Let's take a beet...

Simply put... beets are delicious.  They are high in immune boosting Vitamin C, Vitamin A, fiber, potassium (essential for healthy nerve and muscle functions) and manganese (good for your bones, liver, kidneys and pancreas).  For babies, beets are paired well with apples, carrots, blueberries, peas, lentils, summer squash, chicken, tofu, quinoa and brown rice.

A couple of tips when it comes to beets:  

1.  Beets are recommended for babies 8-10 months of age. 

2.  Don't be alarmed if during the next diaper change you might see a healthy pink stool 

3.  Don't reserve the leftover water from steaming to thin out the puree as nitrates may have seeped into the cooking water during the process.
